Isolated from whole human livers that are not suitable for liver transplantation. The cell composition consists of a homogenous population of hepatic stellate cells and is characterized by viability, morphology, plating efficiency, and FACS analysis.

Upon receipt, immediately transfer each cryovial into the vapor phase of a liquid nitrogen storage dewar. Cryopreserved human Hepatic Stellate cells are viable for at least 2 years when stored under these conditions.

Quality Control Testing

Donor demographics include:

Age, sex, race, diabetic status, smoking history, alcohol use, and any co-morbidity. 

Serology results include (positive or negative):

CMV, EBV HBV, HCV, HIV-1, HIV-2.  Potentially HLTV-1 and HLTV-2 (if performed).

Culture results include (positive or negative): 

Gram +, Gram -, Mycoplasm and Fungi

Application

Novabiosis primary human stellates can be used in co-cultures, 3D cultures, for testing toxicity, drug metabolism, drug screening, cell-cell signaling, and fibrogenesis formation, among other uses.
